OK Boomer Year-End Edition
It's the Year-End Edition of OK Boomer! We feature the best of Ok Boomer over the past year...and the worst!
Huhhhhhhh?
Host Robert Rickman contracted Covid19 several months ago and suffers from occasional bouts of fatigue and brain fog. We'll play the blooper recording for you which includes the introduction of the program, using the wrong call letters! (It's supposed to be WDBX)
We'll also hear Robert explore the radio station and open doors to, the WDBX Fall Fest, a freight train running past the station, and other incidents, including walking in on RogNBob (members of the WDBX Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center) singing about Carbondale and southern Illinois.
Then there was that call that Robert received in the WDBX telephone booth. It was Anna, his college girlfriend calling during her walk around the Bayou in Houston.
And later, while Robert was riding the stationary bike, he talked with his trainer about seniors and how many of them resist exercise
There is also OK Boomer's first investigative report about senior citizens smoking pot in the parking lot of...well...it wasn't the high school parking lot.
Roger Ramjet (who looked like the 1960's cartoon character) plays a hit record of the '70s with a name nobody has heard of.
And we'll hear about these stories: a local bookstore that not only sells books but gives them away...a local senior center that is experiencing a reduction in funding at the same time the number of seniors increases....and we'll talk about how some boomers are retiring, to the streets!
And then there is the story about (whisper)
Depends
Question: What kind of a present is appropriate to give to someone suffering from dementia? Answer: It's not a crossword puzzle.
Finally, Bob Smith reports about a tiny 500-watt radio station in a rural community that broke The Crime of the Century by simply calling the Dallas Police Department that fateful day in November of 1963.
"Do you have the name of the assassin of President Kennedy?"
"Yes, it's Lee Harvey Oswald."
And you'll hear that conversation and audio that hasn't been heard for nearly 60 years.
And those are just the high points of OK Boomer's year-end edition.
